Add Better Hearing to Your List of New Year’s Resolutions

New Year's Resolutions

This is the time of year when we make our list of resolutions for the New Year. We reflect on the past year and take note of the areas we’d like to change.  A compilation of the top 10 New Year’s Resolutions typically looks something like this.

Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions

  1. Lose Weight
  2. Volunteer to Help Others
  3. Quit Smoking
  4. Get a Better Education
  5. Get a Better Job
  6. Save Money
  7. Travel
  8. Eat Healthy Food
  9. Manage Stress
  10. Manage Debt

Typically, if you’ve thought about making a New Year’s resolution, it involves one or more of the items on this list.  Now take a closer look at items 2, 4, 5, 9, and 10. It’s quite possible these particular resolutions have been on your list before or maybe, they should be on your list but they, aren’t.  Maybe they aren’t on the list because you have a problem hearing?

IT’S TIME TO ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS

  1. Do you know that because of your hearing loss you won’t spend more time with friends and family because it’s a struggle for you to hear them?
  2. Is your hearing loss preventing you from enjoying life more today than you did 5 or 10 years ago?
  3. Would you like to take a class at the local community college and learn something new, but you know you’ll never be able to hear the professor?
  4. Would you like to volunteer, but know you won’t be able to communicate effectively and are afraid too many new and noisy situations will be frustrating?

If you answered yes to even one of these questions, then maybe the only New Year’s resolution you should be making is to get your hearing checked.  Don’t put it off another year call today.
